Announced on Sept.12, the icon of world’s largest cryptocurrency Bitcoin (BTC) will appear on the shirt sleeve of Premier League football club Watford 2019. The appearance of the logo is a part of bitcoin awareness campaign led by Sportsbet.io, the largest bitcoin sports betting brand.

As the Sportsbet is the primary shirt sponsor to Watford FC, it claims that the inclusion of the bitcoin logo is purely an awareness campaign wherein the firm intends to give something back to the crypto community. Echoing the similar concern, Watford FC as well announced on its official website, stating that they’ve got a ‘new sleeve partner’ which will eventually derive the wider exposure to the team as well as Sportsbet.

However, the key concept behind this wider campaign is to ‘improve awareness of bitcoin and educate the public on the benefits of using cryptocurrencies’, Watford FC asserts in its blog.

 “The crypto community have been hugely supportive of us since we began, so putting the Bitcoin logo on the sleeve felt like a fun way to give something back while also showing them our support.”, said Justin Le Brocque, marketing head Sportsbet.io’s

Cryptocurrency’s inclusion in the sports industry isn’t the first of its kind. However, another leading cryptocurrency Litecoin often is known for its increasing adoption in the sports industry. It has now become the trending marketing technique to capture the wider audience.

On one hand, the partnership deal with sportsbet.io enables Watford Football Club (FC) to include Bitcoin on the shirt’s sleeve – on the other hand – The Miami Dolphins, one of the recognizable sports brands have already announced Litecoin as its official cryptocurrency. While the former encourages the wider awareness of king crypto Bitcoin, the latter focused on LTC’s adoption via LTC logo inclusion in team’s various online properties and digital content, in-game branding and advertising opportunities at Hard Rock Stadium.

In a nutshell, fans will witness the Bitcoin’s appearance on the shirt’s sleeve of Watford Football Club team this year which was made possible following the partnership between Watford FC and Sportsbet.io. Le Brocque in his continuous note states that;

“Our partnership with Watford marks a major disruption in the world of traditional sports sponsorship, and by adding the Bitcoin logo we hope this world’s first partnership will create even more buzz around cryptocurrencies.”
