According to a recent medium post, Paxful, ABU, and Althash have launched an education initiative dubbed the ‘Free Blockchain Excellence 101 Course in Lockdown.’ The course will be targeted at 2500 African youths and it is designed as a two –week course.
Free Blockchain Excellence Course
The course will run from April to October 2020. Every two weeks, the program will have a batch of about 200 students enrolled in the course. It offers rolling admission and anyone interested in learning about blockchain technology can sign up. The first module has already been uploaded to YouTube.
When discussing the course, the CEO of Paxful Ray Youssef said that they had observed African were resourceful and ingenious. He added that they were innovative, entrepreneurial, and creative problem-solvers. According to him, the continent is helping to redefine the world’s understanding and use cases for blockchain technology and Bitcoin.
Everyone who completes the course will receive a certificate that will be issued from Credence Hub, the Althash Blockchain. At the end of the course, learners will have an understanding of the fundamentals of the blockchain, its non-financial as well as financial uses
The Goal of the Project
The project aims to build the skills and knowledge of young Africans in these tumultuous times. It is part of a continuing effort to empower the continent using blockchain technology. According to the president of the African Blockchain University (ABU), the aim is to create an avenue for African youths to expand the knowledge and understanding of the blockchain amid the COVID19 lockdown. The motivation is to get African youths to use the knowledge to identify new job opportunities in the 4th industrial revolution. The VP for Community Relations at Althash added that the only way to equalize the playing field was to offer mass education to every willing person.
Paxful’s Initiatives in Africa
The free course is not the only initiative that Paxful is carrying out in Africa. The company also has an initiative where it intends to build 100 schools in different countries in Africa. These schools will be built using donations made in Bitcoin.
