The largest bitcoin mining chip maker, Bitmain announced the launch of a 50 MW crypto mining firm in Rockdale, Texas, United States. The firm claims that the newly launched farm in Texas is “the largest bitcoin mining farm in the world”.

Per the press release, Bitmain launched its 50MW mining farm in Texas together with the Rockdale Municipal

Development District (MDD) and DMG. Bitmain’s new mining setup will initially have the capacity of 25MW, spread across 33000 acres of land. According to the official information shared on October 21, the land is owned by Aluminum Company of America, Alcoa which is a part of the Bitmain’s plan of mining farm since 2018. With the vision to construct the 50MW facility, Bimain aims at making the proposed mining facility the largest in the world.

Setting up mining farm in Texas, US is the company’s most strategic overseas locations, Bitmain said in its release, adding, it is the third crypto mining project invested by Bitmain in the United States. Since DMG is partnered with Bitmain to launch this service, they will spearhead this project in Rockdale. Also, the company will offer its hosting and management solutions to Bitmain’s Texas-based mining farm and will co-operate with Bitmain “to ensure efficient operations of Bitmain’s mining hardware”.

Following the partnership, the COO of DMG, Sheldon Bennett said;

“This mining facility marks a major milestone in the development of the mining farm industry. We are proud to partner with Bitmain, the leading innovator in this sector”

Conclusively, Bitmain also stated that they’re utilizing energy directly from the “Electric Reliability Council of Texas (ERCOT)” with the plan to join hands with the local school district to raise awareness on blockchain technology, mining data center operations, and other related aspects.

When Bitmain announced this project back in 2018, it intended to bring 400 local jobs in the first two years. As such, it had also stated its plan of investing $500 million over an initial period of seven years.

In a nutshell, Bitmain isn’t the only player in Texas, Layer1, a Texas-based crypto mining farm recently raised $50 million with a vision to launch America’s biggest crypto mining facility as well. On the other side, Bitmain is already in the game, serving the mining facility since 2013.
