The popular web browser, Opera has recently announced the introduction of bitcoin payments for its android version. Alongside bitcoin, the platform integrated Tron blockchain and Tron Dapps, crypto projects led by entrepreneur Justin Sun.
In a blog post published on October 22, Opera announced the new version of its browser for Android, Version 45. Alongside various features to redesign the way Opera browser looks, the platform said that they have added “new exciting features to the crypto wallet”. With new design philosophy and brand new appearance, Opera’s version 54 confirmed the addition of BTC, Tron and Tron Dapps.
It appears that Opera seeks to capture the worldwide crypto community by enabling crypto payments in a quick and streamlined way. However, the platform had already integrated Ethereum cryptocurrency in late 2018. With the in-browser support for Bitcoin and Tron cryptocurrency, users via its Android browsers can quickly transact BTC without the need for new software.
Charles Hamel, Head of Crypto at Opera said;
“Most people have heard of bitcoin and thus we saw it as important to support it and make this feature more familiar to a larger group of people.”
Among chrome, safari, Samsung Internet, UC browser, Opera remained the only browser that integrated digital wallet. However, Charles Hamel during December 2018 (when Ethereum was first integrated into its browser) said that Opera is the ideal candidate for integrating cryptocurrencies. Back then Ethereum’s Joseph Lubin commented;
“It’s a significant step for one of the world’s leading browsers to add an Ethereum-based crypto wallet and Dapp explorer, and speaks to Opera’s innovative roots and commitment to embracing next-generation technology.”
More so, Bitcoin, as well as Tron, is briefly surging in a wake of Opera’s crypto integration feature. The world’s largest cryptocurrency, Bitcoin (BTC) is quietly surging by 0.56 percent within the past 24Hrs and valued at $8,294.06 against USD. Similarly, Tron (TRX) is also up with 1.04 percent over the past 24Hrs and currently trading at $0.015590 against USD.
